About Us

Established in 2000 AFS consists of an assemblage of financial products and services designed to assist corporate and individual clients in the process of designing and implementing financial strategies. Employee benefits, estate planning, investments and insurance are our core offerings. Our staff boasts decades of experience and a variety of professional designations. Our clients consist of small and medium sized businesses and higher net worth individuals.

Our philosophy is that every transaction should fairly benefit all parties concerned. We vigilantly adhere to the idea that ours is a service business. Client needs should remain paramount.

Mike has been in the financial services industry since 1982. His career began with the Leaton -NY Agency of New England Life. The agency was known for its actuarial division, The Lambert M. Huppeler Co, Inc. where Mike paid his dues learning first the retirement planning and ultimately the employee benefit marketplace. Mike was a top producer for his entire career at New England.

Mike was instrumental in the development of a Tarrytown, NY office where he mentored new associates, focusing on the sales of employee benefits, business succession planning, retirement plans and the business application of individual life and disability insurance.

Mike acquired his securities licenses (6 and 63) in 1986 in response to the estate and financial planning needs of his business clientele. He is well-versed in business continuity planning, buy/sell funding and deferred compensation plans. Mike acquired his Investment Advisor Representative (IAR) certification (Series 65), to better meet the investment needs of his higher net worth clientele. In addition he maintains life and health licenses. With the passing and implementation of the PPACA businesses find themselves struggling to become and remain compliant. Mike has developed an expertise in assisting small and medium sized businesses in this difficult transition.

In 2000 Mike formed Associated Financial Services, Inc., an employee benefits brokerage geared towards small and medium sized businesses.

Mike graduated magna cum laude from Montclair State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.



Mario V. Sicari

Mario has been in the financial services industry for 16 years. He began his career with CJM Financial Services, in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. The firm was primarily a broker/dealer that worked with accounting and tax professionals who were looking to incorporate financial services into their practice.. Mario began as an independent financial adviser who eventually devised the strategy to successfully recruit several hundred tax and accounting professionals to CJM Financial Services. Shortly, after 2000 Mario became Vice President of Business Development, he was instrumental in identifying asset management strategies to add to CJM Asset Management LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of CJM Financial Services. Mario was also the Principal of CJM Insurance LLC a wholly owned subsidy of CJM Financial Services. . Mario became Vice President of Business Development for 1st Advisors Mortgage Corp.. At the same time Mario founded and became the managing partner of BGS Capital Management LLC.

Mario currently holds his Series 7, Series 66 and Series 24 registrations. He is licensed as an individual life & health producer in the State of New Jersey. He is also licensed as an individual Professional Education Instructor in the State of New Jersey. He holds continuing education seminars on a regular basis for CPA’s, tax professionals, insurance producers and licensed brokers.

Mario also is a licensed loan originator through the New Jersey State Banking & Insurance Department.

Mario has three children, resides in Paramus and served on the Paramus Board of Education from 2002 – 2007. Mario is a member of the Paramus Rotary.

Mario attended Bergen Community College, Fairleigh Dickinson University and the American College of Bryn Mawr,PA.



Brian Walsh

Brian Walsh began his career working in the accounting and financial areas of Fortune 100 size companies. He worked on iconic brands such as Ideal Toys, The Clairol brand, and Sharp Electronics. He proved to be an adept financial manager, and was consistently promoted to higher positions at each company. In the late ‘90’s he briefly left the financial arena and joined the software industry in a sales position, where he sold financial applications. In 2002 he switched careers and decided to strike out on his own by starting a business services company focusing on emerging companies and helping them manage their accounting, tax and payroll functions. During this time he grew his company to the point where he now works with larger sized companies, and their owners, on helping them manage the finances of both their businesses and personal assets.

Brian holds his series 6, 63, 65 registrations and is licensed to sell life, health and disability insurance.

Brian is a graduate of Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science in Business and holds an MBA from Fordham University. He currently resides in Suffern, NY and is active in his local community and is a proud member of the Crossroads BNI Chapter in Paramus, NJ. In his spare time he enjoys the great outdoors, is an avid hiker, skier, snowboarder and gardener.
